The world’s smallest Peugeot is destined for Australia by the end of the year after the company backtracks on plans to sell the 206 and 207 consecutively, writes JEZ SPINKS.

Peugeot says it hopes to announce by April that it will be importing the 107 city car to Australia.

The French company’s local importer has intensified its efforts to introduce the world’s smallest Peugeot after reversing its decision to sell the ageing 206 alongside its just-launched replacement, the 207.

Peugeot Automobiles Australia told drive.com.au last October it was keen to import the 107, but the car has assumed greater importance after availability of the eight-year-old 206 was affected by the closure of a Peugeot factory in England.

The company’s new strategy is to pass up an option to wait five months for 206 deliveries from an alternative factory and instead visit Peugeot France within the next few weeks to negotiate a deal on the 107.
